Defence-Grade Tripods & Linear Translation Stages for Payload Mounting & Positioning

Tripods and horizontal linear translation stages are foundational field and laboratory positioning systems that provide stable, accurate support and precise single-axis linear motion for sensors, cameras, antennas and optical payloads across defence, aerospace and research applications. System Controls offers a complete range including Heavy Duty, Medium Duty, Light Duty and Ultra Light Duty tripods and quadripods with load capacities from 50 kg to 100 kg, and motorized Horizontal Linear Translation Stages in 50 mm, 100 mm and 150 mm travel variants, all engineered for India’s defence and aerospace operational requirements and backed by 35+ years of domain expertise.

Surveillance Positioners

A tripod is a three-legged foldable platform that provides a stable, levelled mounting base for field-deploying surveillance cameras, electro-optical systems, laser range finders and other sensor payloads. System Controls also offers a quadripod variant, adding a fourth leg for enhanced stability and greater height reach under demanding field conditions.

All units are fabricated in aluminium alloy with stainless steel hardware where applicable, and include swiveling feet, spirit level bubble indicators and interface plates for direct payload integration.

A horizontal linear translation stage is a motorized single-axis positioning system that converts rotary motion into precise, controlled linear travel for accurate positioning of optical components, sensors and measurement instruments in laboratory and system integration environments.

System Controls’ stages are stepper motor-driven with precision lead screw mechanisms, roller guide ways and encoder feedback, available in 50 mm, 100 mm and 150 mm travel ranges. All three models deliver straight line accuracy and repeatability of 5 μm with extreme end limit switches at both ends of the travel range.

A tripod uses three legs to provide a stable deployment base for field sensor and camera payloads. A quadripod adds a fourth leg for enhanced platform stability, increased maximum height and improved load distribution under demanding field conditions. System Controls' Quadripods are available in 170 cm and 210 cm maximum height configurations, both rated for 75 kg load capacity.

System Controls offers tripods across four duty classifications — Heavy Duty (50 kg), Medium Duty (60 kg), Light Duty (100 kg) and Ultra Light Duty Quadripod (75 kg) — covering the full spectrum of field surveillance, tactical and sensor deployment requirements.

Yes. All System Controls tripods and quadripods feature swiveling feet and a spirit level bubble indicator, enabling accurate levelling on uneven and irregular surfaces in field and forward-deployment environments.

System Controls Quadripods are rated for operational wind speeds of 80 kmph and survival wind speeds of 120 kmph, ensuring structural integrity in open-field and elevated deployment positions.

System Controls Horizontal Linear Translation Stages are available in 50 mm, 100 mm and 150 mm travel ranges, with load capacities of up to 8 kg, 12 kg and 20 kg respectively to suit varying positioning requirements.

All three models deliver straight line accuracy and repeatability of 5 μm, with precision lead screw drive and encoder feedback providing consistent closed-loop position control across all travel range variants.

In defence and aerospace, horizontal linear translation stages are used for optical component alignment, sensor calibration, interferometry, spectrum analysis, antenna feed positioning and precision measurement at DRDO, ISRO and HAL research and integration facilities.

Yes. System Controls offers custom-engineered configurations tailored to specific payload requirements, operational constraints and environmental specifications. Contact our engineering team directly for project-specific consultation and RFQ processing.
