Delta Robot

High-Speed 3-Axis Ceiling-Mounted Delta Robot for Pick and Place, Assembly and Precision Part Transfer

The System Controls Delta Robot is a high-speed 3-axis parallel robot designed for pick and place, motion simulation, assembly and precision part transfer in industrial automation applications. Ceiling-mounted for space-efficient installation above conveyors and assembly stations, it carries 3 kg payload across a 500mm diameter work envelope with ±0.5mm repeatability on all three axes. Supported by Harmonic Drive gears with integrated crossed roller bearings for high axial and radial force handling, and controlled by a System Controls 4-axis controller via RS232/RS485, the Delta Robot delivers outstanding motion control, short cycle time and precise accuracy for demanding industrial automation applications.

About the Product

What is the Delta Robot?

The Delta Robot is suited not just for pick and place operations but for any application demanding precise, high-speed motions across a defined work envelope. Capable of handling payloads up to 3 kg, it reaches any point within a 500mm diameter work envelope with ±0.5mm repeatability across X, Y and Z axes. Supported by Harmonic Drive gears, the system offers a compact drive mechanism with highly rigid integrated crossed roller bearings capable of handling high axial and radial forces while supporting dynamic tilting moments. The ceiling-mount installation positions the robot above the work area, freeing floor space and enabling operation directly over conveyor systems and assembly stations. A System Controls 4-axis controller with RS232/RS485 communication interface provides complete motion control.

01

Harmonic Drive Precision for High Force Applications

Harmonic Drive gears with integrated crossed roller bearings provide a compact drive mechanism capable of handling high axial and radial forces while supporting dynamic tilting moments. This precision drive architecture delivers the rigidity and repeatability demanded by high-speed pick and place and precision assembly operations where consistent positional accuracy across millions of cycles is essential.

02

System Controls 4-Axis Controller

The Delta Robot is controlled by a System Controls 4-axis controller via RS232/RS485 communication interface, providing complete motion control within the System Controls automation ecosystem. This integrated controller approach simplifies system commissioning and reduces the integration complexity associated with third-party controller pairing.

03

500mm Work Envelope with ±0.5mm Repeatability

The Delta Robot reaches any point within a 500mm diameter work envelope with ±0.5mm repeatability across all three axes, covering the work area needed for conveyor pick and place, part transfer and assembly operations. The Z-axis provides 80mm of stroke at the outer 500mm diameter and 150mm of stroke at the central 200mm diameter for deeper reach in the centre of the work envelope.

04

Short Cycle Time for High Throughput

The closed loop stepping drive system and Harmonic Drive gear mechanism deliver outstanding motion control with short cycle times for maximum throughput in high-speed industrial automation applications. Pick and place, motion simulation, assembly and part transfer operations all benefit from the combination of rapid positioning speed, high repeatability and the structural rigidity of the parallel delta robot architecture.
