What is the SCARA Robot?

The SCARA Robot is a new standard in the product line for precision high-speed picking, tracking and easy integration into process lines and systems. The system is designed for applications requiring 180° operation in one second with precise part handling and can be quickly integrated and redeployed with a small footprint and low power requirements. Flexibility in the workspace is achieved through full Z-stroke, single plane and parallel plane motion capability, improving access and efficiency in constrained or complex process line layouts. Three joints cover ±150° and ±120° in the horizontal plane and 100mm of vertical stroke, at speeds of 180°/sec, 200°/sec and 40mm/sec respectively, with IP-54 ingress protection for industrial environment deployment.

The SCARA Robot delivers 180° of horizontal arm travel in one second, driven by Joint 1 at 180°/sec and Joint 2 at 200°/sec, making it one of the fastest configurations in the System Controls robotics range for high-speed pick and place and tracking applications. This speed capability enables high throughput part handling in electronics assembly, packaging and manufacturing process lines.

Rapid Integration and Redeployment

The SCARA Robot is designed for quick integration with a small floor footprint and low power requirements, enabling rapid deployment into existing process lines without major facility modification and equally rapid redeployment to new positions as workflow and layout requirements change. This flexibility is particularly valuable in defence and aerospace manufacturing environments where production runs vary and line configurations change frequently.

Full Z-Stroke and Multi-Plane Motion

The SCARA Robot moves in full Z-strokes across a single plane or in parallel plane motion, providing three-dimensional workspace access in a compact footprint. Joint 3 delivers 100mm of vertical stroke at 40mm/sec, covering the vertical reach needed for pick-from-stack, load-to-conveyor and part transfer applications where vertical positioning is as important as horizontal reach.

IP-54 Protection for Industrial Environments

IP-54 ingress protection provides resistance to dust and limited water exposure, making the SCARA Robot suitable for the full range of industrial manufacturing environments encountered in electronics, aerospace component, defence equipment and general manufacturing assembly operations.
