Pan and Tilt Unit
75 kg

Heavy-Duty Two-Axis Positioner for Naval, Ground and Mast-Mounted Defence Surveillance Platforms

The Pan and Tilt Unit 75 kg is a heavy-duty two-axis surveillance positioner designed and supplied by System Controls for antenna, electro-optical and sensor payloads up to 75 kg on tripod, mast and naval platform installations. Delivering closed loop position control with 0.05° accuracy, scanning velocity from 0.1 to 60 deg/sec and three operating modes including position, rate and scanning, the PTU is driven by zero backlash geared BLDC motors with optical angle encoders on each axis.

About the Product

What is the
Pan & Tilt Unit 75 kg?

The Pan and Tilt Unit 75 kg is a precision two-axis positioner delivering accurate dynamic motion in both azimuth and elevation axes for heavy surveillance, antenna and electro-optical payloads. Each axis is driven by a zero backlash geared BLDC motor with an optical angle encoder providing position and velocity feedback to the servo amplifier, achieving 0.05° accuracy with scanning velocities from 0.1 to 60 deg/sec.

Tripod and Mast Platform Compatibility

The PTU is mountable on tripod, mast and stationary hard platforms, providing flexible deployment options across ground-based surveillance posts, vehicle-mounted mast systems and naval vessel installations. A heavy duty tripod is available as an accessory as per customer requirement, with finish options in painting or powder coating to meet specific platform and camouflage requirements.

02

High Torque BLDC Drive for 75 kg Payload Precision

Each axis is driven by a zero backlash geared brushless DC motor with an optical angle encoder providing position and velocity feedback to the servo amplifier, delivering 0.05° accuracy across a 75 kg top mount payload. The high torque compact assembly provides the structural drive force needed for heavy antenna arrays and multi-sensor electro-optical systems while maintaining the precision demanded by surveillance and tracking operations.Za

03

Three Operating Modes for Mission Adaptability

Position mode enables precise point-to-point payload positioning for sensor alignment and target designation. Rate mode provides velocity-controlled motion for smooth tracking and surveillance transitions. Scanning mode supports automated area coverage patterns for perimeter monitoring and search operations. All three modes are accessible via RS422/Ethernet interface with PC-based GUI on Windows and Linux, and a hard control panel with joystick for field operation.

04

Naval Grade Vibration and Shock Qualification

The PTU complies with MIL-STD-167-1 for naval machinery vibration and MIL-STD-901D for naval high-impact shock, confirming its suitability for ship-borne surveillance and weapon system platform installations. Combined with MIL-STD-810G compliance for humidity, fungus and salt spray, it is qualified across the full range of naval and coastal operating environments encountered in Indian defence deployments.
