The System Controls Tripod 50kg is a lightweight, rugged and compact foldable aluminium tripod designed for mounting payloads up to 50 kg in defence and aerospace field deployments. Adjusting from 750mm to 1350mm in height on uneven surfaces using swiveling feet and a spirit level bubble indicator, it weighs just 5 kg maximum and folds to 850mm for transport. A mid level spreader provides stability in field conditions and a quick release mechanism enables rapid payload mounting and demounting. Fabricated from aluminium alloy with stainless steel components where applicable, it is available in paint or powder coating finish to customer requirements.
What is the Tripod 50kg?
The Tripod 50kg is a light-weight, rugged and compact module for mounting payload up to 50 kg in field defence and aerospace deployments. It is a foldable unit with a flat base on each leg, fabricated using aluminium alloy for most components and stainless steel where applicable. An interface plate is provided for connecting the tripod to the payload. The single-stage design adjusts between 750mm minimum and 1350mm maximum operating height. Swiveling feet allow stable deployment on uneven ground surfaces. A spirit level bubble indicator ensures accurate leveling. A mid level spreader is available for additional stability and a quick release mechanism in the top plate enables rapid payload attachment and detachment. The tripod can be painted or powder coated as per customer requirements.

Uneven Surface Deployment with Swiveling Feet
Swiveling feet on each leg allow the Tripod 50kg to be deployed stably on uneven, rocky and unprepared field surfaces without requiring a level ground plane. Combined with the spirit level bubble indicator, this enables field operators to achieve a level payload mounting platform quickly and accurately in outdoor defence and aerospace survey, surveillance and sensor deployment scenarios.
Quick Release Mechanism for Rapid Payload Handling
The quick release mechanism in the top plate enables rapid attachment and detachment of payloads, reducing setup and pack-down time during field operations where speed of deployment is critical. The interface plate accommodates the payload mounting interface, providing a secure and repeatable connection between the tripod and the mounted system.
Spirit Level Bubble Indicator for Precision Leveling
The integrated spirit level bubble indicator allows the operator to confirm accurate level of the tripod head before mounting the payload, ensuring that sensors, cameras, laser systems and other precision payloads are deployed on a correctly leveled platform. This is particularly important for electro-optical and laser systems where platform tilt directly affects measurement or pointing accuracy.
Mid Level Spreader for Field Stability
The mid level spreader accessory links the three legs at mid-height to resist lateral movement and improve stability in windy or uneven field conditions. This spreader is particularly valuable when the tripod is deployed at or near maximum height where leg spread and stability margin are reduced, ensuring the payload remains securely supported throughout the deployment.
