What is 2kW BDOC?

The 2kW BDOC brings together four functional subsystems, a laser beam director, an auto focusing system, a laser beam stabilization system and a target acquisition system, inside a single opto-mechanical housing. The laser beam imaging camera and target acquisition optics are aligned parallel to the high power laser beam axis, so the system tracks and stays locked on target as range and conditions change.

Opto-Mechanical Assembly

The main mechanical housing carries every mirror and lens mount, the laser collimator mount, zoom lens assembly mounts, camera mounts and the FSM mount. This structure is built to hold optical alignment across all subsystems under real-world operating conditions.

Target Acquisition System

A Day/Night camera with a zoom lens assembly recognizes targets as small as 10cm x 10cm from a range of 250m, giving the system reliable target lock across varying light conditions.

Laser Beam Stabilization System

Beam stabilization holds accuracy to 10mrad. A NIR camera paired with a zoom lens assembly images the focused laser spot from 50m to 1500m, feeding a high bandwidth Fast Steering Mirror (FSM) operating in closed loop with the camera to actively counter drift and hold the beam on target.

Auto Focusing System

The input lens assembly rides on a motorized linear stage, adjusting focus automatically based on live range data from the Laser Range Finder (LRF). This keeps the beam in sharp focus as target distance changes, without manual intervention.
