LED Landing Light 1.5L cd

LED Helicopter Landing and Search Light with Visible and Covert IR Modes for Defence Aviation

The LED Landing Light 1.5L cd is a helicopter landing and search light designed, developed and manufactured by System Controls for low-speed airborne helicopter platforms. Delivering 150,000 cd peak visible output with a 14° H by 8° V beam angle and covert IR illumination at 790 to 920nm for NVG-assisted night operations, it deploys from 0° to 120° in 12 seconds maximum and rotates continuously through N x 360° in 15 seconds maximum. Precision rugged steel gear trains, DC motor drive and a highly reliable slip ring ensure consistent deployment and rotation performance throughout the operational life of the unit.

About the Product

What is the
LED Landing Light 1.5L cd?

The LED Landing Light 1.5L cd is a compact, rugged two-axis LED landing and search light designed, developed and manufactured by System Controls to meet the landing and search illumination requirements of low-speed airborne helicopter platforms. Precision rugged steel gear trains housed in a compact package provide retraction, extension and rotation through DC motors and a highly reliable slip ring rated to withstand operational wind loads. Limit switches cut off and restore power as required across the deployment cycle. The light rotates continuously through 360° with visible or infrared illumination selected on in the extended position, with full illumination available in both modes across the +90° to -90° rotation arc.

01

150,000 cd LED Visible Illumination

The LED Landing Light 1.5L cd delivers 150,000 cd peak visible output with a focused 14° horizontal by 8° vertical beam angle, providing directed high intensity illumination for helicopter landing and taxiing operations. The LED light source delivers reliable, long-life performance in the compact, rugged airborne package suited to helicopter platform integration.

02

Rapid Two-Axis Motorised Deployment

The first axis deploys from 0° to 120° in 12 seconds maximum. The second axis rotates through N x 360° in 15 seconds maximum. Both axes are driven by DC motors through precision rugged steel gear trains with limit switches managing power cut-off and restoration at defined positions, providing motorised, repeatable deployment throughout the operational cycle.

03

Covert IR Mode for NVG Night Operations

Covert IR mode delivers a wide 60° horizontal by 60° vertical beam angle at 790 to 920nm wavelength with 0.5 NRI minimum intensity. Residual visible light is kept to 1CP maximum for covert compliance during NVG-assisted night operations. Illumination is available in both visible and IR modes across the full +90° to -90° rotation arc during continuous 360° rotation.

04

Reliable Slip Ring for Wind Load Operation

A highly reliable slip ring rated to withstand operational wind loads maintains electrical continuity to the light source during continuous 360° rotation. This slip ring architecture ensures uninterrupted power and signal supply to the light assembly throughout the full rotation range regardless of wind loading conditions at operational helicopter platform speeds.
