Robotics Systems for Industrial Automation and Defence Applications
System Controls designs, develops and supplies a range of robotic systems for industrial automation and defence applications. The robotics range spans autonomous unmanned ground vehicles for surveillance and search and rescue, precision SCARA and delta robots for high-speed industrial pick and place, and collaborative robots for human-shared workspace operations. Each system is built on System Controls’ in-house precision motion control, drive engineering and system integration capability.
From the Factory Floor to the Field
System Controls robotics systems are deployed across two distinct domains. In industrial environments, SCARA, delta and collaborative robots deliver precision, speed and repeatability for manufacturing, assembly and quality inspection applications. In defence and security environments, the MUGV Multifunctional Unmanned Ground Vehicle provides remotely operated surveillance, staircase navigation and search and rescue capability without requiring an on-board operator.
All four systems in this range are built around precision harmonic drive or closed-loop motion control architecture, with position feedback, ruggedised construction and flexible communication interfaces for seamless integration into existing automation and command infrastructure.

System Controls brings over 35 years of precision motion control and systems integration experience to every robotic platform it designs and supplies. Every system in this range is engineered in-house at the Hi-Tech Defence and Aerospace Industrial Area, Hoskote, Bengaluru, supported by System Controls' CNC machining, electronic assembly, embedded systems and full system integration capabilities. As a supplier to DRDO, HAL and India's leading defence and aerospace establishments, and operating under Transfer of Technology agreements with DRDO and ISRO, System Controls builds robotics platforms that meet the precision, reliability and ruggedness standards demanded by both industrial and defence customers.
System Controls robotics systems serve a wide range of industrial and defence deployment requirements: - Remotely operated ground surveillance and perimeter monitoring - Urban search and rescue in confined or staircase environments - High-speed pick and place in electronics and manufacturing assembly lines - Material handling, loading, unloading and part stacking in industrial process lines - Human-robot collaborative assembly and quality inspection operations - Motion simulation and precision part transfer in defence and aerospace manufacturing
The MUGV carries up to 70 kg of payload on a 25 kg vehicle platform. It operates via remote control with no on-board operator and is powered by three 24V DC / 9 Ah batteries, making it suitable for surveillance, staircase climbing and search and rescue missions.
Yes. The MUGV has a dedicated flipper movement mode with 360-degree continuous rotation and a gear ratio of 156, designed specifically for climbing and descending stairs. This makes it suitable for urban search and rescue and indoor surveillance in multi-storey environments.
Both the Delta Robot and the Collaborative Robot achieve ±0.5mm repeatability across all axes, making them suitable for precision assembly, quality inspection and part transfer applications where consistent positional accuracy is required.
The Delta Robot uses RS232/RS485 communication. The Collaborative Robot uses Ethernet TCP/IP. The SCARA Robot and MUGV communication interface specifications are available on request from the System Controls sales team.
The Delta Robot uses Harmonic Drive gears with an integrated crossed roller bearing, providing a compact drive mechanism capable of handling high axial and radial forces and dynamic tilting moments. Motion control uses a closed loop stepping system with a System Controls 4-axis controller.
The COBOT has a maximum reach of 550mm with 4 degrees of freedom. It carries 3 kg at the wrist axis including gripper, and supports position, velocity and linear interpolation control modes with Ethernet TCP/IP communication.
A collaborative robot (COBOT) is designed to work safely alongside humans in a shared workspace, operating under closed-loop control with force and position awareness. Unlike fully automated industrial robots that operate in isolated cells, COBOTs like the System Controls 4-axis model adjust their motion dynamically based on user input and can be redeployed quickly across different tasks.
