Rotary Joints & Sliprings for Defence Radar, Aerospace & Industrial Systems

System Controls supplies a comprehensive range of rotary joints and sliprings for defence radar, aerospace and industrial rotating systems. The range covers waveguide twists and rotary joints for RF signal transmission, fluid rotary joints for radar antenna cooling, and 18 and 30 channel sliprings for power and signal transfer across rotating interfaces. All products are engineered to defence-grade specifications and qualified for operation in demanding environmental conditions.

Rotary Joints & Sliprings

Rotating systems in defence and aerospace demand uninterrupted transmission of RF signals, fluid cooling and electrical power across the rotary interface. Any degradation in signal integrity, fluid flow or electrical continuity directly impacts radar performance, antenna tracking and system reliability. System Controls rotary joints and sliprings are precision-engineered to eliminate these failure modes across continuous duty radar, surveillance and aerospace platform applications.

System Controls brings over 35 years of defence and aerospace domain experience to the design and supply of rotary interface components. As an AS9100D certified company and CEMILAC certified Avionics Design House, System Controls meets the qualification standards demanded by India's defence aerospace procurement ecosystem. Products are engineered in compliance with MIL Standards and JSS 55555 at the Hi-Tech Defence and Aerospace Industrial Area, Hoskote, Bengaluru, and supplied to HAL, DRDO and India's leading defence establishments.

System Controls rotary joints and sliprings are deployed across the following defence, aerospace and industrial applications: - RF signal transmission across rotating radar antenna interfaces - Radar antenna cooling using fluid rotary joints integrated with RF rotary assemblies - Power and signal continuity in rotating surveillance positioner and pan-tilt systems - Electromechanical signal transfer in aerospace equipment and airborne rotating systems - Rotating interface signal management in robotics and industrial automation systems - Medical equipment rotating assemblies requiring uninterrupted power and data transmission

The Waveguide Rotary Joint Low Band operates in the 8900 to 9200 MHz frequency band with VSWR of 1.25 max and insertion loss of 0.5 dB or less. It supports continuous N x 360° rotation at up to 60 RPM with a running torque of 0.25 Nm and pressure rating of 270 kPa.

System Controls supplies an 18-channel slipring rated at 48V DC with 10A power channels and 0.5A communication channels, and a 30-channel slipring rated at 4 to 16 Amps per channel. Both support continuous rotation for defence, aerospace and industrial rotating system applications.

Yes. The System Controls Fluid Rotary Joint is specifically designed for integration into complete radar rotary interface assemblies together with RF rotary joints, FORJ and sliprings, enabling simultaneous cooling fluid transfer and RF/electrical signal transmission across the same rotary interface.

System Controls is an AS9100D certified company and a CEMILAC certified Avionics Design House, with compliance to MIL Standards, JSS 55555 and DO Standards. The company operates from the Hi-Tech Defence and Aerospace Industrial Area, Bengaluru, with an Environmental Test Lab and Metrology and Electro Optics Characterisation Lab on site.

A fluid rotary joint transfers cooling fluid from a stationary supply to a rotating radar antenna assembly. System Controls Fluid Rotary Joint transfers ethylene glycol water mixture at up to 10 LPM and 5 Bar, enabling active thermal management of high-power radar antenna systems during continuous rotation.

A waveguide rotary joint allows continuous 360-degree rotation of a radar antenna while maintaining an uninterrupted RF signal path between the rotating antenna and the stationary transmitter/receiver. It is a critical component in ground-based and vehicle-mounted rotating radar systems, ensuring signal continuity with minimal insertion loss and VSWR across the operating frequency band.
